1// Think of one thing you want to accomplish today and go do it

All it takes is something small to brighten your day. Accomplishing something today will make you feel great and put you in a great mood. For me this can be something like reading for an hour before bed, doing Bible study in the morning, choosing a healthy alternative during my lunch break, etc. Something that you want to do, a habit you want to build, or just something that will bring you happiness. It’s so simple and will make a difference in your day!

2// Stop and smell the roses

Not literally, though that would brighten your day wouldn’t it? What I mean is stop complaining, stop the self-pity or self-loathing and start counting those blessings. When I am just in a terrible mood one thing that always turns it around for me is to make a list in my head of all the things I do have, that do go my way, and make me happy. We all have so many things to be thankful for, and sometimes we get so caught up in our every day lives that we lose sight of that. It’s important to take the time to be thankful for the things you have accomplished in life, the blessing you get to enjoy every day, and the simple fact that you get to enjoy another day on this Earth.

3// Brighten someone else’s day

What could cheer you up more than putting a smile on someone else’s face? I can’t think of much else. Spread joy and love to those around you even when it’s the hardest thing to do, and when that love is returned your day will be turned right side up again. Be the difference in someone’s life today and know that being there for them will cheer you up so much. Give a compliment, buy someone’s Starbucks, or simply smile at a stranger walking by. We all appreciate the little things, and I know doing this has changed my mood so many times because of the joy I feel when I make someone else happy!

  • These are great ideas. I love trying to brighten someone else’s day. Sometimes we can get into a funk and think we have it the worst but cheering someone else up really helps take me out of that bubble.
