Hey Lovelies!

As most of you know, this blogging thing of mine (and youtube) is pretty much a really fun yet time consuming hobby, which I love! However, I also work, and go to school. It’s not easy balancing a full time job and a full load of classes, throw in the things I do for fun like keeping up with this little space of mine, and I have a very full schedule. And I’m sure there are others out there that are in similar situations and maybe even have more on their plate. So, today I am sharing with you the things I do to balance out all of the different areas of my life, so that I am able to keep my sanity and stay on top of the things that matter.

How I Balance My Busy Schedule 1

1// Organization is KEY. This is something I truly stand by. I am constantly trying to find new ways to keep myself as organized as possible. This isn’t just in my personal life, but also at work, with my school work, etc. I personally enjoy using an Erin Condren Life Planner (click here to get $10 credit for your own planner!) to pretty much organize everything! I am lucky enough that I am able to fit all of my stuff into one planner, but I’m sure one day it will get to a point where I may need more than one, a lot of people do that. I personally think staying organized is fun, not everyone does. So try to find ways you will enjoy to organize your things. Maybe do a DIY project and create an office area in your room that will be solely for work and school related things. Go on Pinterest, get inspired, and go crazy organizing your life. It always feels like a fresh start to me when I reorganize different things, it makes me excited to use that organizational system I put in place and get to work right away, it’s motivating as well as functional!

2// Plan ahead. This is especially important when you are balancing multiple things. This, for me, is where my planner comes into place, and why I love being able to fit everything into it. What I like to do each week is write out my work schedule, then put in any due dates for school, then I set aside time to focus on my blog. This way I am able to see everything laid out for the week, and I can plan ahead certain times each day to dedicate to work, school, or anything else. It works well for me, and helps me to not get overwhelmed through out the week because of all of the many things I need to get done.

3// Have a “work area”. I currently do not have an office to do my school work and writing. Sometimes I find myself on my bed attempting to do my homework, and I’ve noticed that this is the worst place for me to try to get anything productive done. So even though I don’t have an office (YET) I still have an area at the dining room table where I work. I think it’s important to be able to provide yourself with an area where you can be productive and free from distractions.

4// Prioritize. This is another important thing to remember. My blog is very important to me, as well as my youtube channel, reading, and all of the other things I enjoy doing to pass time and be creative. However none of those things take precedence over getting my degree. So at the end of the day it is more important to me that I am on track with my school work than it is that I have 5 posts written and planned out for the rest of the week, as amazing as that would be, it isn’t worth getting behind in school. So as I plan out my week, I am sure to prioritize the things that need to get done throughout the week first, and then follow that with things that are important but not AS important. This helps me to not procrastinate on important things, and then I get to look forward to doing the things that I think are more fun later on.

5// Relax. Always make time to relax and do things that make you happy. This is something I sometimes forget to do, which has caused me to seriously stress out. It’s inevitable that I will have some weeks that are more stressful than others, so I need to ensure that I have time throughout those weeks to sit down and read a book, watch Netflix, or go and get Starbucks. Whatever it takes. Those moments are precious, and crucial to my sanity. So I make sure to pencil things like that into my planner, so that I know its ok to do those things, because I’ve planned for them. It’s great to reach for goals and strive to improve yourself, but every now and then we need to stop and enjoy our lives as much as we can, that way when we look back on this time we know we made the most out of the situations we were in.

I wish I could say that I do all of these things all the time, but no one’s perfect. However, these are the things that I have noticed helped me to be more productive each week. It’s important to find what works for you, and incorporate it into your day. What helps you stay on top of a busy schedule? • Totally agree! Organization is key!

  • Great tips! I definitely need to designate a work/me area at home. Those planners are SUPER cute!

    • Aren’t they amazing! I love my EC planner! And it definitely makes a difference for me to have an area specifically for work and studying.

  • I completely agree that having your own “work space” helps 10x over with productivity. I used to just do my work in the living room, but now that I have my own office/sewing room, I’m able to get much more done in a day. Great tips!

    • So true Megan! It makes such a big difference for me, I don’t know how I managed to get anything done before I did that!

  • Great tips! Thanks so much for the reminders.

  • I need a designated workspace so badly! We are house hunting and that is one of my must-haves!
