My vacation is officially over. I can’t believe I am going back to work full time today. Long gone are the countless days of sleeping in, staying up late, and watching Netflix for hours at a time. Goodbye mornings, where I woke up when I felt like it. Instead, I have to set up alarms on my phone again, and be forced to come out of a deep and blissful sleep so that I can spend an hour putting on makeup and doing my hair, and then go to work where I will be on my feet for 8 hours straight.

See you later flexible hours, where I can go to the gym when I feel like it, or impromptu trips to the movies, because now everything will have to be planned according to my work schedule. And so long kindle. You’ve been great to me this summer, but with school and work, I don’t know how much time we will spend together now, and I will seriously miss getting lost with you in amazing stories, especially ones involving Witchcraft and “the boy who lived”.

But it’s not all bad, now that I am working again, I can say hello to SHOPPING, I’ve missed you old friend. How have you been Sephora? I haven’t shopped your beautifully stocked shelves as much as I would have liked in the past few months, and I am very excited to get acquainted with all of the amazing products you have now! Same goes to almost every other store in any mall.

Hello money, it will be nice to see more of  you in my bank account again, so that I can feed my obsession for Starbucks and Chipotle as often as I please. Hello busy days, new friends, and new memories, I’m excited to have all of you in my life, and I am excited for where this new job will take me. I love having a lot to do, and I will officially be a busy little bee from here on out. Bring it on!

I’m just so torn between excitement and sadness as I go back to work today, I will miss the freedom and SLEEP that comes with not working, but I miss being busy, working hard, and doing something that I enjoy! (and of course making money..)

So today is a bittersweet day, but I know the good outweighs the bad, and I look forward to what’s to come.  Wish me luck as I start on this new journey! And let me know in the comments what you love (and hate) about starting a new job! xoxo

  • Good luck with your new job. Transitions can be rocky at first and loosing free time for fun and relaxation is always sad but I find that it is so nice to have a sense of routine and purpose.

    • Thank you so much! It was a great first day, and I am excited for the future! =]

  • I am so happy for you! The transition might be a little tough at first, but I know you are going to be amazing at whatever you are doing. And more Starbucks? Hello? Can’t go wrong with that 😉

    • Who could say no to more Starbucks??? I had it twice today!! woohoo! =]

  • Good luck on a new journey in your life. I like the good that outweighs the bad…You know the Starbucks, Chipotle, Sephora…some of my favorites 🙂 Enjoy your day!!

    • I had my starbucks today, next up, Chipotle! I deserve a treat! =] Thank you!!

  • Good luck at work! I’m with you on the freedom but at the same time wanting to be busy and working hard.

    • Thank you! Yes, I am excited to have something going on throughout the week besides school! =]

  • What a great post. I am struggling with the choice/chance/obligation to go back to work. your post has left a smile on my face.

    • I’m glad it made you smile! =] I hope you find peace in the decision you make! =]

  • Ohhhhh I definitely know what you mean – this heralds routine and early mornings and hard work and not enough time, YET, it does fulfill and yeah, the money aspect is great.

I think the thing I like least about a new job is goofing up in front of new colleagues. But the best thing is getting to learn my role and perform well. I hope it all goes really well for you 🙂

    • Yes, I hate being the “new girl” but I love learning new things!

  • Okay, first of all you are adorable. Haha- Second I haven’t worked since having my first son almost two years ago now, and oh how I miss the income! 🙂 However, there is no place I’d rather be! 🙂

  • Congrats on the new job =) And yes, it is bittersweet… but soon enough, you will find your new routine… and shopping is always a win win ;0
